Eugene Smith
Eugene Smith uses photography for his medium of choice. In his photography, he portrays the true essence of an individual. He did this by actually creating a bond with the individual in order for them to feel comfortable around him to show their true selves. His work was photojournalism that had what he called photo essays. these essays would be based on an event or a single individual in which he would follow for a span of time.

This American Life
While listening to the recording on our teachers blog i couldn't help, but laugh to some of the things that some of the students said. for example, when they interviewed a middle school girl going to her dance i laughed when she said "i don't know" to the 5 boys who asked her out to the dance. this socially awkward moment is completely describe in Kerlavage's article on the social emotional development of the middle school learner. they also focus more on who is in and who is out, like the class activity we did in groups about 11 year old in their social development. in the interview about the girl thinking about if her shoes would define her, i remember how i used to feel like the whole world was watching every single bit of me. it was a tough time to live with, but how the girl in the beginning of the recording said, you can't change it because it prepares you for what you are going to deal with in life.
